1. Preston Castle Haunted House

This magnificent building, also known as the Preston School of Industry built in 1894 to reform schools. The Preston Youth Correctional Facility established in 1999. It ceased operations in 2011. It’s now open for public tours. An old housekeeper named Anna Corbin. Anna executed at the castle in 1950. This location also featured on TV’s Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures and other programs.

The castle built between the 13th and the late 15th century. In the late 15th century, this Irish castle has witnessed more grisly deaths than the Game of Thrones wedding. As the legend goes, during a battle to gain authority inside the O’Carroll clan (which was known for poisoning diners). One of the brothers slammed an axe into the other priest while the priest was preparing to celebrate Mass in the castle’s church. 

The chapel is now known as “The Bloody Chapel,” and the priest believed it to be haunting the church late at night. It doesn’t stop there. In the course of castle restorations during the first half of 1900 workers discovered an underground dungeon inside the Bloody Chapel with so many human skeletons that they filled three cartloads of skeletons before removing them. 

The dungeon planned to ensure that prisoners fell through a trapdoor and have their lungs cut by spikes made of wood buried in the earth, before they eventually die slowly, horribly just within the earshot of the evil clan members atop.

3. Voergaard the Haunted Castle, Denmark

Who could have imagined that the charming alleys of Denmark could be filled with ghost stories? Voergaard Castle, in the stunning Danish city of Dronninglund, is a masterpiece of art that has an eerie past. This haunted castle’s legend says that in 1578, Ingeborg Skeel, the person who purchased the Castle, drowned the designer in the moat so that he wouldn’t be able to build another one. Locals say they saw Skeels ghost walking around the castle after dark. This makes this place one of the scary castles in Denmark.

About one hour to the north of Prague, Houska Castle has no fortifications and no kitchen, and no occupants at the time it was constructed. However, it does contain something unlike any other castle, a huge gap in the ground that some believe is the gateway to hell.

Montebello is best known for the legend of Azzurrina. She was a young albino girl who was the daughter of the feudal ruler of Montebello. Her parents tried to dye her hair blue, as albinism was believed to be a sign that she was evil.

Azzurrina vanished from the castle in 1375 on the summer solstice. From that date, her ghost returned to the castle every five years. People visit the castle every five years on the solstice in hopes of spotting her.
